Château Purcari

Château Purcari is the oldest winery in Moldova, an Eastern European country that has transformed wine into the sector with the highest growth potential in the country. In particular, the area between the Prut and Nistru rivers, corresponding largely to the historical region of Bessarabia, has been involved in viticulture and winemaking since ancient times. Here lies the village of Purcari, where, about 200 years ago, with an official decree of Tsar Nicholas I Romanov, the winery of the same name was founded, destined to quickly become a symbol of Moldovan wine excellence in the world. Thus began the long history of Château Purcari, told through thousands of labels preserved in the company’s historic cellar.

Our wines are among the best in the world!

The wines of Château Purcari inherit the tradition of the great indigenous vineyards of Moldova, such as Rara Neagra, from which excellences such as Negru de Purcari are born. Especially after the serious damage caused by phylloxera, other varieties of grapes were added to the indigenous specimens, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet. These varieties have had the opportunity to thrive in the soils surrounding the village of Purcari, a wine region, climatically similar to the French area of Bordeaux, which is distinguished by its sunny climate, limited rainfall and the influence of the breezes of the Black Sea and the Dniester River.
